5 – Sidewinder Fries
Sure fries are more of a side item than a dish, but you haven’t had the Local’s fries. They are more of a curly fry potato wedge hybrid of sorts, which many call a “sidewinder” fry. Fried to perfection, they are a perfect match to any meal at The Local’s. Try them for yourself and we think you’ll agree they belong on the top 5 must try dishes from the Local’s. Amazing food, great service. I don’t think I’ve eaten so much. Homemade sauce, fresh and light fish and even though it says fries, don’t believe them. They are potato wedges and they are great too. Fried green tomatoes rest on a bed of spinach but they are so crunchy. Everything on the plate is eatable. I found myself a keeper.
4 – The Local’s Burger
A good burger at a water view restaurant may not be expected. However, The Local’s would be glad to change your expectations. The Local’s Burger is no ordinary burger. It’s a 1/2 pounder topped with applewood smoked, swiss-american cheese, shredded iceburg lettuce, tomato, house pickles and caramelized onions. Not a beef eater? Everything was phenomenal, from the appetizer to the service. I had the “Locals burger”, now mind you I am a big burger guy and this was probably the best burger i have ever had. I will definitely be returning.

My husband and I both ordered burgers and they were fantastic! Eat it like it comes… the onions and sweet pickles make it amazing and I usually don’t like sweet pickles… but trust me! Great swift service. The atmosphere is cozy, clean and overlooks the water and marina! If you are in Niceville and want a great meal with a local atmosphere go here! A wonderful surprise!

Came into the area after playing golf at Eglin Air Force Base. Just down the street. We are situated right on the marina. Beautiful views of the boats, sitting indoors and out. Staff was fantastic. Burgers were big and awesome.
3 – Fried Green Tomatoes
It should not be a surprise that an appetizer made it on the list. After all, the Local’s Eatery was voted “finest appetizer on the Emerald Coast in 2020.” Of course, you don’t have to take our word for it, even if you should. Read below to see what others have said:

My wife and I were driving around in Niceville looking for a great place to eat. We stopped at a couple of places but they were closed. So I started searching through Yelp and found this gem of a restaurant. We sat outside with a great view of the bay. Our waitress, Meghan, was very professional, friendly and attentive. She brought me a few samples of the locally crafted beers while we decided what to order. We chose the fried green tomatoes with lump crab as a starter. Honestly, this could just be a main course because it’s so good.

Local places and this one takes the prize! Great appetizers! The fried green tomatoes are not to be missed. Plenty of shrimp and crab on top.
2 – The Local’s Tacos
It can be good to have choices. In the case of The Local’s Tacos, this is no different. You have a choice of either house spiced grouper or house spiced shrimp. The best thing is that there’s no wrong choice! Both the grouper and the shrimp tacos are delicious!

Perfect in every way!!! Great atmosphere and comfy both inside or outside. Service wonderful, staff so friendly and attentive. Food is amazing …. we had Fried grouper platter, fish tacos, and key lime pie. It was all excellent. Loved this place.

Grouper tacos were yummy & sidewinder fries were best I ever had! Love sitting by the water and eating good food. This will be a regular spot. Our server gave us great info on fishing with 6pack Charters and such. Enjoyed the entire meal~
1 – Hot Crab Dip with Greek Pita Bread
And without further ado, the number 1 dish from Top 5 Must Try Dishes from The Local’s, isn’t necessarily a dish. Suprised? Is it necessary to remind you that The Local’s Eatery has award-winning appetizers? Probably not (but we just did). One of the favorite things about the Hot Crab Dip, is not necessarily the dip, but the warm tasty Greek pita bread. Of course, the bread and the dip, are a first-place combination that you got to try!

I came here with my sister and her husband for a yummy dinner after our day of travels. We came hungry and ready to put down some seafood! We chose an outside table right by the water. The ambiance was great.
We started with the crab dip. Oh my goodness, so good! They had the best pita bread I have ever had! It literally tasted like fried pastry, I couldn’t get enough. I would go back just for that!

food is very fairly priced for the amount of food you get and the quality. hot crab dip is a fantastic starter and the pita they provide with it is house made and so warm and crispy.
